I'm ba-a-ck to continue on with my recollection of the past. I believe the list dropped off at number seven. So, let's soldier on. I realized after that first entry that there were more than ten outstanding moments in 2010 . . . aren't I the lucky girl?! But I promise to stick with ten as that is proving to be a difficult enough task, what with my thousands of digital pictures and all!
#6. The Spring Tornado
(which sent us to the pantry . . . again!)
When first I peeked out the kitchen window, this is what I saw: I thought the doghouse was the sole victim of the 'noisy winds' we'd heard while hidden.
Bu-u-ut then I peeked out the back door.
Thank goodness the dogs were inside, packed like sardines with us humans in the pantry!
The 'minor' tornado flattened the weeping willow out front.
She wept . . .
. . . and then I wept!
It also beat up the old lady elm out back.
I mean BROKE her poor bones into pieces!
(Our gentle giantess would later perish, bruising our bank account - and my heart - as she fell!)
Not to mention the trees in other yards!
(Yard? WHAT yard?!) |
And there was that pesky hole in the roof. |
My lovely arbor deserves an honorable mention. |
The city sustained significant damage, too. |
Let's just say driving required a bit more attention!
But it left behind what matters most . . .
. . . friends and family. |
And McDonalds was there to console us.
Along with . . . |
. . . the entire crew . . . |
. . . of happy volunteers . . . |
. . . who quite literally . . . . . . crawled . . . |
. . . INTO the woodwork . . .
. . . and removed all evidence of the storm!
Much to EVERYONE'S delight.
I don't know about you, but I'm impressed with myself. I've whittled the Top Ten list down by one more number, drawing ever closer to the main event of the year. This really ain't all that bad if you could have seen the number of decent photos I snapped off from the day of this tornado and the events that followed as a result. How snap-happy can one person get? Evidently, QUITE so. So, stay tuned as yours truly continues to draw this drama out.
Number five is just around the corner.
